Postfix is a free & open source email transfer agent via electronic route. It is a Mail Server by IBM Research as an alternative of the popular Sendmail program. Postfix is a very fast, easy to administrate, & secured email client. Postfix can successfully run on UNIX systems including AIX, BSD, HP-UX, Linx, Mac OS X, Solaris etc. it is distributed by the OS venders as ready to run code to be easily setup & used by the administrators.

*Note: Postfix is simply an email transfer program & it does not have facility to store the emails & messages in its database. The IMAP/POP3 Server do that. There can be many Mail Server available for the users on Linux, Windows & Mac OS including Dovecot or Courier Mail. Migration of Postfix data to Office 365 is not a viable thing to be done as it resyncs all the backend data. Postfix is only a part of MTA so it is an important question to change the IMAP Server into some other configurations. It is important for the users to make a copy of the master.cf & main.cf in etc/postfix from the old mail server. You may also keep the new & old mail server running side by side until you are all prepared for the migration of Postfix to Office 365 account.

We need to migrate the old Postfix mail server to a new box with the same configuration. What is the procedure for copying files to an old box in a new box? In addition, there are more than 4,000 e-mail accounts on the mail server and other running applications.

Application is running:

Postfix, Apache, MySQL, PHP, DRBD, Heartbeat

How can we move all applications from an old box to a new box with the same configuration?

Some Queries on Postfix to Office 365 Migration:

Hello everyone, I plan to migrate 150 Linux mailboxes (Postfix to Office 365). I wonder if anyone has experience in this area:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/Exchange/mailbox-migration/migrating-imap-mailboxes/migrate-other-types-of-imap-mailboxes

  1. Can I use this solution (from IMAP to Office 365)?
  2. I then considered exporting the mailboxes in PST format, then passing MX with Outlook to Office 365, and then importing the PST file without a split. I know it sounds like a long and stupid process, but is it an option?
  3. Are there other options?
  4. Are there any limitations that I should consider before starting this process, mailbox size, length of username, downtime, etc.?

We want to partially migrate our local mailboxes to Office 365 Exchange, while some remain local on our Postfix machine. We tried to create some records and edit the mx record. However, when trying to send e-mails through Office 365 Exchange accounts, some errors have been reported.

Is there any documentation or has anyone successfully completed the partial migration of Postfix?

I have a developer who is currently using Postfix mail system and want to migrate to Microsoft Exchange. I do not know how to convert all of the Microsoft tool on the Exchange Server and Postfix mail box?

We Better does not create all mailboxes from scratch. This domain will be the same, so what would be the best way to complete the Postfix to Exchange migration? Is there a way to work in a mixed environment during migration?
